Shelby was very excited about the marshmellows...she is excited about anything with sugar in it, really...but she thinks cooking them over the fire is the best thing ever. I think the marshmellows were always burned pretty crisp...but that was okay, I think it hid some of the dirt and ash she dragged the marshmellows through while she was cooking them.
She had a pretty good sugar high for awhile!
Karlee loved playing with the cousins...they jumped rope, played hide and seek, ate watermelon, played horse shoes (well, watched where the horseshoes landed...they were flying pretty wild) and blew bubbles. Yes, she is wearing her winter coat...it was a chilly day especially with the wind that came up in the afternoon. They were camping by the Green, so we stuck are toes in the water....BRRRRRRR!...it was pretty chilly. I think it took about 15 minutes after we had taken are feet out for them to thaw out abit. A great afternoon!
Once it started to get dark, we ran into to town and met up with the Kynastons to watch the fireworks. It was another fabulous display! Shelby really enjoyed the colors and after each one, she told me that "that was her favorite". Karlee hid under the blanket most of the time. While they were shooting off the fireworks...they played the song, "God Bless the Usa" by Lee Greenwood. This song, with the combination of the fireworks kind of brought me to tears. I am so greatful for all the men and women who have fought for our freedom, from the beginnings of our country till now. I thought I would just post the song...they say how I feel the best....

So fun! Made me think of you guys being out here for the fourth last year!
Aunt Gay Rogers gave me more pictures of Karlee and Shelby today at church. She was still on cloud nine over Shelby running to her and calling her Grandma. Shelby knows how to "do it right" including putting on all of her jewelry evidenced in a picture.
